Paul Bristow, Former MP for Peterborough and the Newly Elected Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

Paul Bristow is the newly elected Mayor of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, having secured a decisive victory in the 2025 mayoral election. His win reflects widespread support across the region, including a strong mandate from his home city of Peterborough.

A Proven Record of Delivery

Before becoming Mayor, Paul served as the Member of Parliament for Peterborough from 2019 to 2024. During his tenure, he was instrumental in bringing significant investments and developments to the city:

  • ARU Peterborough: Paul championed the establishment of Anglia Ruskin University's Peterborough campus, a transformative project aimed at enhancing educational opportunities and driving economic growth in the region.
  • Levelling Up Funding: He successfully advocated for government funding to support local infrastructure and cultural projects, including bids that aimed to boost tourism and upskill residents, thereby contributing to the city's long-term prosperity.
  • Green Energy Initiatives: Paul proposed the establishment of a Global Innovation Centre for Energy Transition at ARU Peterborough, envisioning a hub for research and development in sustainable energy technologies, which could attract significant private investment and position the city at the forefront of the UK's green economy.

Vision for the Region

As Mayor, Paul is committed to building on his track record to deliver tangible improvements across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. His key priorities include:

  • Economic Growth: Attracting investment to create jobs and support local businesses.
  • Infrastructure Development: Upgrading major roads to dual carriageways and enhancing public transport to improve connectivity.
  • Affordable Housing: Promoting the construction of homes that meet the needs of residents while preserving the character of local communities.

Paul's leadership is grounded in a deep understanding of the region's challenges and opportunities, and he is dedicated to serving every community with energy, integrity, and a focus on results.
