Councillor Javed Akhtar is proud to represent North Ward on Peterborough City Council.
A local family man, Javed is passionate about making North Ward a cleaner, safer and better place to live. He was elected in May 2026, winning the seat from Labour with a majority of 74, after earning the support of local residents who wanted to see a fresh approach.
Javed is keen to get stuck in and be a councillor who is visible in the community, listens to residents and works hard to get things done. He believes that being out and about, speaking to local people and tackling issues head-on is the best way to make a real difference.
His priorities for North Ward are clear:
- Improving parking and making roads safer for everyone
- Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour
- Taking a zero-tolerance approach to fly-tipping and litter
- Protecting and improving local parks and green spaces for families to enjoy
Javed is committed to working with residents, local organisations and community groups to deliver positive change and make sure that North Ward continues to be a great place to live, work and raise a family.
