Councillor Ivelina Banyalieva is proud to represent Paston and Walton Ward on Peterborough City Council.
Originally from Bulgaria, Ivelina has made Peterborough her home for the past 20+ years and is passionate about giving back to the city and the people who live here. She is well known within Peterborough's Bulgarian and wider Eastern European communities and is always happy to support local families and help people find the advice and support they need.
Helping others has always been a big part of Ivelina's life. She spends a huge amount of time supporting charities and community groups across the city, working with people from all backgrounds and helping those who need it most. She is also one of the organisers of Peterborough's annual European Culture and Heritage Festival, bringing communities together to celebrate the city's many cultures.
Since being elected in May 2026, Ivelina has wasted no time getting to work for local residents. She has worked alongside fellow ward councillor Alex Rafiq organising free bulky waste collections, volunteered with the Zi Foundation to serve hot meals to people in need, and even got her hands dirty helping to remove graffiti from areas across Paston and Walton. She believes in leading by example and being out in the community, making a real difference.
As a mum, family means everything to Ivelina. She believes that strong families build strong communities, and those values are at the heart of everything she does.
Ivelina is committed to being a councillor who is visible, approachable and always willing to help. She wants residents to know they have someone who will listen, work hard on their behalf, and be a strong voice for Paston and Walton.
