Traffic Calming Improvements Confirmed for Dogsthorpe Road Following Residents' Concerns

Residents living along Dogsthorpe Road are set to benefit from new traffic calming improvements following ongoing concerns about speeding and road safety.

After hearing from local residents about excessive speeds, frequent accidents and inconsiderate driving, Park Ward Conservative Councillors Arfan Khan and Murtaza Ahmed-Munir met with Peterborough City Council's Highways Team on site to discuss the issues and press for action.

The meeting gave residents the opportunity to share their experiences directly with Highways officers, helping to identify the challenges facing the area and the options available to improve safety.

Following those discussions, residents have now received the welcome news that traffic calming improvements will be delivered on the northern section of Dogsthorpe Road, between Dogsthorpe Fire Station and the Garton End Road roundabout. The works are currently expected to begin in early 2027.

The improvements come after years of concerns from local people about speeding vehicles and the number of accidents along this stretch of road.

Welcoming the announcement, Cllrs Khan and Munir said:

"We're delighted that residents' concerns have been listened to and that traffic calming measures have now been confirmed for this section of Dogsthorpe Road.

"Road safety has been a longstanding concern for local people, and it was important that residents had the opportunity to meet directly with the Highways Team to explain the impact speeding traffic has had on the community.

"This is a positive step forward, and we'll continue working with residents and the Council to ensure the improvements are delivered as planned. We'd like to thank everyone who came along, shared their experiences and helped make the case for action."

The councillors will continue to keep residents updated as the project progresses and remain committed to tackling local issues that matter most to the community.

If you have concerns about speeding, road safety or parking in your neighbourhood, please get in touch with your local Conservative councillors.
