Yesterday, Cllr Alex Rafiq, our Conservative Councillor for Paston and Walton, put forward his first motion at Full Council asking for the Council Leader to write to the Chancellor and push for an urgent review on the Winter Fuel Allowance being means tested, given that over 25,000 pensioners in Peterborough will be affected by the withdrawal of the £300 funding.
There was overwhelming support for the motion from all parties other than Labour - with all 15 of their councillors present, abstaining from the vote.
As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words and these Labour Councillor’s actions speaks volumes!!!
