Cllrs Steve Allen and Rylan Ray co-hosted a well-attended meeting yesterday at The Leeds Hall, Eye, to tackle the persistent issue of fly-tipping across Eye, Thorney, and Newborough. Around 50 residents, local farmers, community groups, and parish councillors joined the discussion, demonstrating a strong community commitment to resolving the problem.
The meeting was a valuable opportunity for open dialogue with senior City Council officers, police representatives, and local stakeholders. The passion and determination to take real action was clear, with many attendees eager to collaborate on solutions.
Looking ahead, the councillors will work closely with council officers to develop a detailed public briefing note and a clear action plan. These will be shared widely to ensure transparency and encourage community involvement.
Steve and Rylan emphasised that while discussions are vital, concrete actions are essential to effectively combat fly-tipping in the area. They thanked everyone who took part and reaffirmed their dedication to keeping the villages clean and safe.
