Cllr Alex Rafiq visited the John Clare development site earlier this week to speak directly with the owner and check on progress. He emphasised the importance of moving the project forward quickly and safely, noting past delays on other developments in the area.
The owner confirmed that the skip and all rubble will be removed by the end of the weekend, which is a positive step. Cllr Rafiq also requested a sheeted fence to properly secure the site during construction of the 15 new flats, and the owner appeared receptive to this suggestion. Additionally, the owner has agreed to replace a neighbouring fence on Pennine Way, improving safety and appearance for residents.
Cllr Rafiq said:
“Although this isn’t quite in my ward, it’s important residents see developments completed safely and efficiently. I’ll continue to provide updates as progress is made and ensure any issues are addressed promptly.”
