I am thrilled to have been chosen as the Conservative candidate for Fletton and Woodston for 2019. I recently retired as a French teacher and Head of the Sixth Form at the Peterborough School. Before that I worked abroad for ten years in education and publishing. If you vote for me I will take a particular interest in improving education in our schools. I have had a long involvement with the community, from introducing my students to charity work to running a community association. I volunteer at a local charity and have been a charity fundraiser for many years.
I have been impressed with the work of community and volunteer groups in the ward. I believe that it is vital that councillors support and promote local groups. Keeping the streets safe is a priority. I fully support the Public Space Protection Order proposal in Woodston because it will reduce antisocial behaviour. Our hard-pressed police need support and assistance in dealing with crime and anti-social behaviour on our streets, and it is essential they have the information they need to keep the community safe. If I am elected I will make sure the police know what the local community concerns are and where action is needed.
My husband Andy and I are both able to give the time and energy needed to represent you properly. If you vote for me on Thursday 2nd May I promise I will work hard for the interests of Fletton and Woodston residents.
My four main priorities are:
1: Tackling Crime and Disorder
Anti-social behaviour, drug-dealing, parking and speeding remain problems around Fletton and Woodston. I will majke sure residents se a reduction in crime by working with police and council officers.
2: Reducing Littering and Fly-Tipping
I will continue to be active in organising and participating in community litter picks. Any dumped waste that is spotted will continue to be reported and I will be pushing for stronger fines for those responsible.
3: Supporting the Community
Actively engaging with the community is a key part of being a councillor. I will continue to support local businesses, organisations and activities throughout Fletton and Woodston.
4: Educating our Children and Young People
I have a particular interest in the education sector and have many years of education experience in schools here and abroad. I want to make sure our young people succeed and reach their potential. I will use my knowledge and experience to support and challenge local schools and support parents who have issues with their children's education.
Yours sincerely,
Louise Coles
