As your City Councillor since 2016 I am proud to represent Eye Thorney & Newborough. During my term on the Council I have served as Scrutiny Committee Chair, as Cabinet Adviser to The Leader, and Council appointee of the Vivacity board.
I regularly attend Parish Council meetings in Eye, Thorney, and Newborough. I am a trustee of Newborough Community Association, a member of the Bedford Hall Management Committee and attendee at Eye Community Association.
Fly tipping is an enormous challenge – in particular for rural areas. Although this is a national problem, I will continue to speak out with demands for more robust local measures to get this under control. We need better surveillance, better enforcement and well publicised prosecutions. Those who are profiting from the exercise must be made to understand they are not outside the law.
Speeding is a constant challenge in our villages – affecting all residents, and I believe we need to put in place restrictions that address the problem. Simply put it’s a quality of life and a safety issue we cannot ignore.
Young families require homes and there is constant pressure for more house building, however I will stand firm, believing there should be no further developments without real infrastructure gains.
I promise to continue working hard for everyone in the community, putting residents’ needs and concerns above party politics. If re-elected I will always be visible and readily available - all year round - with our regular street surveys, InTouch Newsletters, and community litter picks, getting things done; putting Eye Thorney & Newborough FIRST!
