02/07/09 - CITY MP PLAYS HOST TO LONGSTANDING COUNCILLOR

MP for Peterborough Stewart Jackson yesterday played host to veteran councillor Charles Swift and his wife Brenda at the House of Commons.

The occasion was arranged to mark Charles’s 55 years as a city councillor.

Charles and Brenda watched Prime Minister’s Questions and then had lunch with Stewart in the Churchill Room. They are pictured with Stewart on The Terrace after lunch.

Stewart commented:

“Charles has made a tremendous and lasting contribution to this city over his many years as a councillor.

“His enthusiasm for the city and its people remains as strong as ever and I thought it only fitting to both mark and thank him for his 55 years of service.

“I do hope he enjoyed his day in Westminster”.
