30/06/09 - JACKSON WELCOMES SUSPENSION OF GRANGE ALLOTMENT SITE SALE

Local MP Stewart Jackson understands that, following high-level internal council discussions, the sale of the allotment site at Westwood Grange is to be put on hold.

He understands that the decision notice suspension has been enacted to allow further work to be done on the most appropriate way to dispose of the site – with the possibility of the site being sold as smaller plots rather than en bloc to one developer.

The 4.41ha site was given planning permission for residential development in July 2008.

Stewart commented:

“This is good news. I have had many concerns about this development right from the start and am pleased that small-plot disposal is being looked at.

“Whatever housing is eventually built on the site must be in keeping with the local area.”
